Abstrak

This study aims to determine whether the students are able in comprehending reading text by using “question word” made by vocational students at Maospati Regency.

The researcher takes eleventh grade students as sample by using purposive sampling. There are 68 students in 3 vocational school at Maospati Regency. The data collected through observation, Test, and documentation. In observation, the researcher using field notes to find out the process of student learning activities. The researcher conducts interviews to obtain information pertinent to this study. The researcher using the statement sentence to get a response from the students about this research. And then, the researcher users documentation to support this research. And the research using in qualitative research, data is obtained from various sources, using various data collection techniques (triangulation), and done continuously until the data is saturated".

The data obtained in general is qualitative data (although not reject quantitative data), so that the data analysis techniques used have no clear pattern. The result of the researcher: 1) of the observations conducted by the author, in the study, there are still many students who can reading in English. 2) of the test results, most students do not really like learning English.
